GUNS N' ROSES, AC/DC: Double Axl

Axl

If rumors making the rounds turn out to be true, Axl Rose will be a very busy man in the near future.

As if the recent mega-successful tours by Guns n' Roses and AC/DC weren't enough, separate sources speculate that more recording and touring activity by both could be in the offing.

A blind item on the L.A. gossip site CrazyDaysAndNights.net alludes to a "permanent 'A list' rock group" signing a deal with "one of the top five most famous producers of all time" to make a record they said they'd never do with "(most of) the original lineup." It claims the producer got the members to sign off on him being in control, with an option to end the sessions if any member leaves or "screws up." The item ends by suggesting that "all that recent concert money they've recently earned has reminded them they were once that good."

Could the band be Guns n' Roses and the producer be Rick Rubin? That's what some people think. Stay tuned.

Over to AC/DC, where a Facebook post by Murray Engleheart, author of the 2012 book AC/DC Maximum Rock & Roll: The Ultimate Story of the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band, claims that the band will continue touring -- and will also record new material -- with Rose. Here's what he says:

"Speculate all you want but I’ve said it before: AC/DC will continue with Axl on vocals – new album, touring, the whole nine yards. What was a massive gamble by Angus[Young] turned out to be an equally enormous triumph that has set the scene for the future.” Rose took over for singer Brian Johnson, who suffers from hearing problems and recently stated that his singing days may be behind him.
